Rice Insurance Services Center, now a part of Gallagher, has specialized in state-mandated real estate E&O programs since 1989. We provide the group policies in the 15 states that have group programs and require real estate licensees to maintain insurance. Rice Insurance Services Center has an exciting career opportunity for a Claims Adjuster. The Claims Adjuster manages insurance claims to determine the extent and legitimacy of claims and issue benefits as jurisdictionally required. This is a highly detailed role and is an end-to-end claims role

• Investigates claims for merit and legitimacy by gathering documentation from all affected parties, identifies and verifies damage to person or property either through statements or on-site investigations or meetings with clients. Establishes appropriate pricing of claims based on research and analysis.
• Notifies clients of results of investigations. Discusses lines of authority for specific claims resolution. Makes recommendations for settlements or denial of claims.  Processes denials.
• Negotiates claims with claimants and or claimants’ legal counsel.
• Properly reserves funds. Adjusts client claim reserves appropriately.  Obtains required releases for finalization of claims.
• Maintains post-litigation files.
• Reviews rates, rules and regulations to ensure that claims practices correctly follow standards and laws.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required:

• High school diploma and 5 years related claims experience required.
• Appropriately licensed and/or certified in all states in which claims are being handled or able to obtain the licenses/certification per local requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of accepted industry standards and practices.
• Computer experience with related claims and business software.

• Ability to think critically, solve problems, plan and organize activities, serve clients, negotiate, effectively communicate verbally and in writing and embrace new challenges.
• Analytical skill necessary to make decisions and resolve complex issues inherent in handling losses.
• Ability to successfully negotiate the settlement and disposition of serious claims including the ability to interpret related documentation.

We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
